Geothermal design

MB Century’s engineering team are currently building a hydraulic model using AFT impulse 8 waterhammer and surge analysis software for a project designing a new reinjection pump system.

The model enables us to determine a system curve in order to select reinjection pumps that will match the wells injectivity and piping pressure drops. The model is calibrated with actual operating information supplied by the stations and enables the design team to understand the transient response of the system and how components will dynamically interact predicting waterhammer, allowing us to design out system pressure spikes.

We have also used the software to model a geothermal pump system and ensure the minimum NPSH (net positive suction head) required at the pump was met in order to avoid any cavitation.

Contact us via one of the team, or our email (info-nz@mbcentury.com) if we can assist you with any geothermal design support or if you are experiencing waterhammer issues that need investigating.
